Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our practice and services
Are you accepting new patients?+
Yes, we are currently welcoming new patients of all ages to our practice. We provide comprehensive family medicine for newborns, children, adults, and seniors. To become a new patient, simply call our office to schedule your initial appointment. We'll gather your medical history and insurance information over the phone to make your first visit as smooth as possible. We look forward to partnering with you on your health journey.
Do you accept insurance?+
We are a cash-pay, out-of-network practice, so we do not bill insurance directly. Instead, we offer simple, transparent per-visit pricing, and payment is due at the time of service. If you carry insurance, we're happy to provide a superbill after your visit that you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement (this is not available for Medicare or Medicaid, and reimbursement depends on your individual plan). We believe quality healthcare should be accessible, and we'll always be upfront about pricing so there are no surprises.
How do I schedule an appointment?+
Scheduling an appointment is easy—simply call our office during business hours and our friendly staff will help you find a time that works for your schedule. We offer both in-person visits at our Mount Juliet location and convenient telemedicine appointments. For urgent sick visits, we reserve same-day appointment slots each day, so please call early if you need to be seen quickly. We recommend scheduling annual physicals and wellness visits in advance to secure your preferred time.
What should I bring to my first appointment?+
Please bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and a list of any current medications including dosages. If you have previous medical records, lab results, or imaging reports from other providers, bringing those can help us understand your health history more completely. We also recommend writing down any questions or health concerns you'd like to discuss during your visit. Arriving 10-15 minutes early allows time to complete any necessary paperwork.
Do you offer same-day appointments for sick visits?+
Yes, we understand that illness doesn't follow a schedule. We reserve same-day appointment slots each day specifically for urgent sick visits. If you or a family member wakes up feeling ill, call our office as early as possible and we'll do our best to see you that same day. We also offer rapid testing for flu A/B, strep throat, RSV, and urinary infections, along with nebulized breathing treatments when needed. Our goal is to provide timely care when you need it most.
What is telemedicine and how does it work?+
Telemedicine allows you to meet with our providers via secure video call from the comfort of your home. It's ideal for follow-up visits, medication management, minor illness consultations, and health concerns that don't require a physical exam. To schedule a telemedicine appointment, simply let us know your preference when you call. You'll receive instructions for joining your virtual visit, and you'll need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and internet connection. Telemedicine visits offer the same quality care with added convenience.
What ages do you treat?+
We provide comprehensive family medicine for patients of all ages, from newborns to seniors. Our board-certified family nurse practitioners are trained to care for the unique health needs of every life stage. We offer newborn visits, well-child checkups, adolescent care, adult preventive services, and senior health management. This means your entire family can receive care from providers who know your family's health history and can coordinate care across generations.
What conditions do you treat?+
We treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, thyroid disorders, anxiety, depression, infections, skin conditions, allergies, and much more. We also provide preventive care, wellness exams, immunizations, and health screenings. Our patient-centered approach means we take time to understand your whole health picture and create personalized treatment plans. For specialized conditions requiring a specialist, we provide referrals and coordinate your care.
Can you prescribe medications?+
Yes, our board-certified family nurse practitioners have full prescriptive authority in Tennessee. We can prescribe medications for acute and chronic conditions, and we work closely with you to find treatments that fit your lifestyle and preferences. We also offer medication management and regular follow-ups to ensure your treatments are working effectively. If you prefer a non-pharmaceutical approach, we'll discuss alternative and complementary therapies as part of your personalized care plan.
What is your cancellation policy?+
We understand that schedules change, and we ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer your appointment time to another patient who may need care. You can cancel or reschedule by calling our office during business hours. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee, as they prevent other patients from receiving timely care. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Do you provide referrals to specialists?+
Absolutely. When your health needs require specialized expertise, we provide referrals to trusted specialists in our community and coordinate your care throughout the process. We'll send your medical records and test results to the specialist, and we stay informed about your treatment plan to ensure continuity of care. Our goal is to be your primary healthcare partner, connecting you with the right resources while maintaining a complete picture of your overall health.
What should I expect during an annual physical?+
Your annual physical is a comprehensive health assessment that includes a review of your medical history, current medications, and lifestyle factors. We'll perform a thorough physical exam, check your vital signs, and discuss any health concerns or goals. Comprehensive lab work is included to screen for conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, thyroid issues, and more. We'll also ensure you're up to date on preventive screenings appropriate for your age and risk factors. This is your opportunity to discuss your health priorities and create a proactive wellness plan.
What is functional wellness and how is it different?+
Functional wellness is a personalized, science-based approach to achieving optimal health by addressing root causes rather than just treating symptoms. We use advanced testing, including genetic analysis, to understand your unique biology and create targeted interventions through nutrition, lifestyle modifications, supplements, and other evidence-based therapies. This approach is ideal for patients who want to optimize their health, address chronic conditions at their source, or prevent disease before it starts. It's collaborative medicine where you take an active role in designing your health roadmap.
What aesthetic services do you offer?+
We offer professional aesthetic treatments including Dysport injections to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, as well as microneedling to improve skin texture, tone, and firmness. These medical-grade aesthetic services are performed by our trained providers in a safe, clinical setting. Whether you're looking to refresh your appearance or address specific skin concerns, we'll create a personalized treatment plan to help you look and feel your best. Schedule a consultation to discuss your aesthetic goals.
How quickly can I get lab results?+
Most routine lab results are available within 2-5 business days, though some specialized tests may take longer. We offer rapid testing for flu, strep, RSV, and urinary infections with results available during your visit. Once your lab results are ready, we'll contact you to discuss the findings and any necessary next steps. If your results require immediate attention, we'll reach out right away. For routine results, we'll review them with you during a follow-up appointment or phone call.
Do you handle workers' compensation or work-related injuries?+
We provide work and sports physicals to meet employment and participation requirements, and we can evaluate and treat minor work-related injuries or illnesses. For serious workplace injuries requiring workers' compensation claims, we can provide initial assessment and referrals to appropriate occupational health specialists. We'll also complete necessary documentation and forms for your employer. Please let us know when scheduling if your visit is work-related so we can prepare the appropriate paperwork.
What if I'm experiencing a medical emergency?+
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, or stroke symptoms, call 911 immediately or go to your nearest emergency room. Our practice provides urgent same-day sick appointments for non-emergency acute illnesses, but we are not an emergency care facility. For mental health emergencies or crisis situations, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or go to your nearest emergency department. Your safety is our top priority.
Can I request prescription refills online?+
For prescription refills, please call our office during business hours and our staff will assist you. We typically process refill requests within 24-48 hours during weekdays. Please plan ahead and request refills before you run out of medication. Some medications require a follow-up appointment or updated lab work before we can authorize a refill. If you're on multiple chronic medications, we can discuss setting up automatic refills during your next visit to make medication management easier.
How does your practice approach patient privacy and confidentiality?+
We take your privacy seriously and strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect your personal health information. All medical records are stored securely, and we only share your information with your explicit consent or as required by law. Our telemedicine platform uses encrypted, HIPAA-compliant technology to ensure your virtual visits remain private and secure. You have the right to access your medical records at any time, and we'll provide you with a copy upon request. Your trust is foundational to the care we provide.
Do you offer payment plans for services not covered by insurance?+
We understand that healthcare costs can be a concern, especially for services not fully covered by insurance such as functional wellness programs or aesthetic treatments. We offer transparent pricing and will discuss all costs upfront so there are no surprises. For larger services, we may be able to arrange payment plans on a case-by-case basis. Please speak with our office staff about your financial concerns, and we'll work with you to find a solution that makes quality healthcare accessible. Your health should never be compromised by financial barriers.
